Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon
Naturopathic Doctors are one of medicine's best kept secrets, and I feel genuinely grateful to be one of them.
We are trained from the ground up to find the root cause, honor the whole person, and listen with the kind of depth and patience that whole-person care was always meant to require.
I bring nearly two decades of clinical experience across urgent care, performance medicine, functional medicine, and holistic care settings to this work, alongside a deep commitment to care that is honest, collaborative, and consent-based.
Seen
"I feel heard, and I feel seen. During our sessions, I always have the strong sense that I am in wise and healing hands."
~ Dawn F
My Clinical Approach
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is not the container for the medicine. It is the medicine.
Compassionate listening, presence, and the experience of being truly heard are foundational to how I practice. This way of being was handed down through my lineage, carried in the ancient wisdom I strive to honor in all that I am and do.
The body responds to feeling regulated. The nervous system responds to being met with care rather than urgency. What becomes possible when a person feels fully seen and brave enough to tell the full truth of what they are carrying often cannot be reached through any other means.
With that as the foundation, I also bring a rigorous clinical methodology to every visit.
I begin with a functional medicine lens, the micro view: a close and detailed look at what falls within optimal ranges, what patterns are present across your markers, and which systems are showing signs of strain. Then I take a second pass through an Eastern medicine lens, the macro view: looking at constitutional areas calling for support, seasonal susceptibility, and what is happening at the root of your systems level.
After both passes, we bring everything together with you at the center. Your symptoms, your lived experience, your emotions, your goals, your limitations, and your capacity. Together, we co-create a plan that is phased, sustainable, and genuinely yours.
This is medicine that investigates and addresses from the root. It takes longer and asks more of both of us. And it tends to return people to something they had perhaps forgotten was possible: a relationship with their own body built on understanding rather than opposition.
Not sure where to begin?
A 20 minute discovery call is a gentle first step.
We will explore what has brought you here and whether this feels like the right fit for where you are.
I
Attune
Relationship, consent, and shared commitment
II
Illuminate
Honest seeing of what the body has been carrying
III
Nourish
Alignment with habits and relationships that support thriving
IV
Release
Physiological and personal clearing at every level
V
Alchemize
Transmutation, radical ownership, and conscious power
Every person who enters into one-on-one clinical care with me moves through five phases. They are not meant to be rigid or rushed, and there will be times when we are holding more than one phase at once. They are meant to offer you a sense of grounding: a framework that follows the pace of your body, honors our mutual capacity, and reflects what each of us is honestly ready to meet within our healing container.
This is not a wellness visit with boxes to check or a care plan designed to satisfy an insurance form. It is a relationship of depth, shared commitment, and genuine co-healing. Soul-evolving, body-healing, heart-uplifting work, practiced in service of your liberation and the greater good of all who are touched by your becoming.
This is the kind of thriving that the modern model of medicine was never designed to hold. And it asks something of both of us.
Which means this relationship is also a fully human one. There will be moments when one of us is dysregulated, when something lands differently than intended, when we bring different contexts or different needs to the same moment. Part of what we establish in Attune, our opening phase, is how we will navigate those moments together with honesty and care. How will we recognize when something has shifted between us? How will we stay in the right relationship and remain committed to the transformation and liberation we both deeply desire for you?
In Illuminate, we look honestly and carefully at what your body has been carrying and what has been standing in the way of its own innate healing capacity.
In Nourish, we move toward greater alignment: habits, relationships, and ways of living that support the direction of well-being we are devoted to together.
Release is both physiological and deeply personal. We may treat a condition, engage in a thoughtful detoxification through diet and lifestyle, or bring accountability to the process of clearing what no longer serves in your spaces, your relationships, and your inner life.
And in Alchemize, what has been uncovered, nourished, and released begins to settle into something that was always already yours.
Healing from wholeness is a return to the innate self-healing capacity within you, and ultimately, a stepping fully and consciously into the power and purpose that your capacity was always yearning to serve.
Witnessed
âDr. Natasha was a witness to one of the toughest circumstances of my life. She held a comforting container for me, and her intuition, education, and communication are such a unique combination.â

A Note on Your Lab Work
I want to begin by acknowledging that completing lab work takes real effort.
Fitting it into a busy life is not always easy, and most of us do not love getting our blood drawn. The information you bring to this process is an investment in your own understanding, and I do not take that lightly.
Lab work is one important piece of a larger picture. It tells us a great deal about what your body's systems are trying to communicate, though it is never the only source of information we draw from.
When we review your results together, we go well beyond what conventional reference ranges indicate. Standard ranges are calibrated to identify disease. Functional ranges are calibrated to find where your systems are beginning to work harder than they should, sometimes years before a formal diagnosis would appear. This is frequently where a different kind of conversation becomes possible.
We also plan from the beginning for when we will retest. Because you are a dynamic being. Your body's responses will evolve, and revisiting what the data is saying over time is how we track what is shifting and honor where you are in the process.
Empowered
No one has ever provided me with a clear picture of what all the blood work actually means and how everything is connected... Knowing what all of these results mean has made me feel more empowered about my health journey.

Insurance
I hold a small number of insurance-based patient appointments as part of my commitment to accessible care.
Availability is limited, and new insurance patients are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
I am currently in-network with the following plans for naturopathic care:
- Moda Health
- Pacific Source
- Regence BlueCross BlueShield
Aetna and CareOregon patients may be seen on an out-of-network basis. Please reach out to discuss your specific coverage and options.
I do not currently accept Kaiser, Medicare, or bill any secondary or tertiary insurance plans.
Please contact your insurance provider directly before scheduling to confirm your naturopathic medicine benefits, coverage limits, and any referral requirements.
Insurance plans vary significantly in what they cover. I care about your financial well-being, which is why I request that you confirm your benefits in advance to help avoid unexpected costs.
Naturopathic care through insurance typically covers primary care visits and clinical management.
Focused clinical hypnotherapy and deeper energetic healing containers are not covered by insurance and are available as separate offerings. If you are seeking these potent modalities to support your healing and wellbeing, please visit the Work With Me page to explore what may be the right fit for you.
Cash-Pay
I believe access to genuine healing care is something worth protecting. Cash pay appointments are available for patients whose insurance does not cover naturopathic medicine or who prefer to work outside the insurance system.
I approach financial conversations with the same care I bring to clinical ones. If cost is a barrier to care, I welcome an honest conversation during your discovery call.
A small number of sliding scale appointments are available each month for those experiencing genuine financial hardship.
Rates are shared during the discovery call and scheduling process.
Appointments are available in-person in Portland, Oregon and via telehealth.
Areas of Clinical Focus
These areas of focus are presented as categories for clarity, though the body rarely works in isolation. Chronic infections can drive pain, metabolic health shapes brain function, and digestive health influences hormones and mood. A root-cause approach means we listen to the full picture of how your systems are communicating with each other.
Digestive and Gut Health
The relationship between the digestive system and the nervous system is bidirectional and deeply responsive to stress, trauma, and emotional patterns.
When this connection is dysregulated, the symptoms can feel both physical and deeply personal.
- IBS and IBD
- SIBO
- Chronic bloating
- Acid reflux /GERD
- Food sensitivities
- Gut-related anxiety /Â gut-brain dysregulation
Gut-directed hypnotherapy is available as an evidence-supported adjunct for many digestive conditions.
Hormonal and Women's Health
Hormonal health is shaped by far more than hormone levels alone. Early life experiences, epigenetics, digestive function, stress physiology, and medication history all play a role in how hormonal shifts are expressed and experienced across a lifetime.
- Perimenopause and menopause
- PMS and PMDD
- PCOS and irregular cycles
- Thyroid conditions, including Hashimoto's thyroiditis
- Hormonal fatigue and mood changes
- Postpartum support
Chronic Pain and Nervous System
Chronic pain often involves central sensitization, a process by which the nervous system becomes increasingly responsive to pain signals over time. Addressing the nervous system directly, alongside the full picture of what the body is carrying, is frequently where the deepest shifts become possible.
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic musculoskeletal pain
- Headache and migraine patterns
- Central sensitization
- Motor vehicle accident (MVA) injury recovery
- Chronic fatigue
Clinical hypnotherapy and LENS neurofeedback are available as adjuncts for many of these conditions. In my practice, they consistently accelerate what other approaches have begun.
Mental Health and Nervous System Regulation
Anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions rarely exist in isolation. Nervous system patterns, life history, relational dynamics, and physiological factors shape them.
They are also shaped by systemic forces: racial stress and intergenerational trauma, economic precarity, epigenetic inheritance, and the cumulative weight of navigating systems that were never designed with your full humanity in mind.
A whole-person approach brings a sense of reverence to every layer.
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma and PTSD
- Stress and adrenal dysregulation
- Insomnia and sleep disturbance
- Burnout and depletion
Brain Health and Cognitive Function
Cognitive symptoms such as brain fog, difficulty focusing, and memory changes can have multiple contributing factors: nervous system dysregulation, nutritional status, hormonal shifts, and neurological patterns that respond well to targeted clinical support.
- ADD and ADHD
- Brain fog and cognitive clarity
- Memory and focus
- Concussion and TBI recovery
- Neurological support
LENS neurofeedback is a specialized modality for neurological and cognitive concerns, and one I find particularly well-suited to the conditions above.
Metabolic and Cardiometabolic Health
Metabolic health is deeply connected to inflammation, stress physiology, sleep quality, and hormonal balance. A root-cause approach looks at the full picture of how these systems communicate and influence one another.
- Blood sugar dysregulation
- Insulin resistance
- High cholesterol and cardiovascular risk
- Inflammation and autoimmune support
Subconscious and Behavioral Patterns
Some of the most persistent health patterns have roots in the subconscious mind, in early experiences, inherited beliefs, and ways of relating to the body and to resources that were formed long before conscious awareness could intervene.
Clinical hypnotherapy works directly and gently with these deeper layers, creating space for new neurological pathways to form through the body's own innate intelligence.
- Disordered eating and food relationship healing
- Financial patterns and money blocks
- Repeating behavioral, ancestral, and generational health patterns
Modalities
I draw on a range of clinical tools depending on what is most appropriate for your individual history, complexity, and goals.
- Naturopathic medicine and functional lab testing
- Clinical hypnotherapy
- LENS neurofeedback
- Somatic healing practices
- Vagus nerve therapy
- Frequency audio
- Nutritional medicine
- Botanical medicine
- Homeopathy
- Hydrotherapy
- Manual therapy/Bodywork

Held
"Working with Dr. Kassam has been so healing and fruitful. From the somatic exercises to taking a deep dive into lab work, Dr. Kassam has been there to support me with my overall wellbeing in a way that I have never experienced before.
Her practice is very holistic and consent-based, and I feel safer and more open with her than I have with any other doctor.
As a queer child of Indian immigrants, I am always searching for support networks that are aligned with my values and can hold my experience fully. I have found that with Dr. Kassam and she is an important part of my health team.
I look forward to continue my healing process with her!
